AN470 vs MS20470 vs NASM20470

AN470 was superseded by MS20470 (FAA AC 43.13-1B). MS20470H was cancelled on 18 August 1998 and superseded by NASM20470, and the notice says the part numbers "have not been changed". The rivet is still ordered as MS20470.[1][2]

  • MS20470H, sheet 2, note 2, as printed: "INTERCHANGEABILITY RELATION WITH AN470 RIVETS MS20470 RIVETS OF LIKE DASH NUMBERS ARE UNIVERSALLY, FUNCTIONALLY AND DIMENSIONABLY INTERCHANGEABLE."[5]
  • MS20470H Notice 1: "MS20470H, dated 14 SEPTEMBER 1993, is hereby canceled and superseded by NASM20470. The Part Identification Numbers (PIN) for MS20470H and the part numbers for NASM20470 are identical. The part numbers have not been changed."[2]
  • FAA AC 43.13-1B, para 4-57a(4): "The universal head rivet (AN470 superseded by MS20470) has been adopted as the standard for protruding-head rivets".[1]
  • FAA AC 43.13-1B, para 7-1a: "All protruding head rivets may be replaced by MS20470 (supersedes AN470) rivets."[1]
